Discussion
The Conservation Commission (ConCom) is interested in enhancing public access to Irish Pond as part of the new bridge design. There was no new information on this subject. L. Bonk will try to get more information.
No information.
L. Bonk has finished the survey and is working on a report for the Town and NHF&G.
The ConCom received rough quotes for sign construction costs from 3 sign companies. P. Trowbridge will draft language for the signs and will seek out other town partners to help with the cost.
The plan to recruit more ConCom members is to (1) call people who have expressed interest in the ConCom in the past, (2) try to get an article about the ConCom in the Hooksett Banner, (3) post an announcement to Allenstown residents on the Bear Brook ATV email list, and (4) man booths at the 2004 Old Home Day and 2004 Voting Day events.
L. Bonk attended the workshop and found it very informative. The subjects of basal area requirements for roads, streams, and ponds, timber tax issues, and wetlands protection were covered. She recommended that the Town develop an ordinance restricting timber operations within a buffer area around wetlands.
L. Bonk posted announcements of the trails day in the Hooksett Banner and Concord Monitor. P. Trowbridge posted an announcement on the Bear Brook ATV email list. Volunteers will meet at the Hiker/Biker parking lot at 8:30 on 10/26/03. Technical trail work will be led by NEMBA volunteers.
Two videos on exotic aquatic plants (variable milfoil) were viewed. L. Bonk gave an extra set of the videos to the manager of the Twin Oaks Campground to share with his guests.
L. Bonk does not understand this issue. She will request more information from NH DES.
L. Bonk visited the site. Restoration is underway.
L. Bonk visited the site along with the wetlands scientist hired by the developer. After a review of the plans, L. Bonk signed the expedited wetlands permit application on behalf of the ConCom.
No action will be taken on these grants in the next month.
The ConCom will join this regional organization. L. Bonk will be the voting member with D. MacKay and P. Trowbridge as alternates.
