SELECTMEN'S PUBLIC MEETING 1/17/06


Sandra A. McKenney, Chairperson for the Board of Selectmen, opened the meeting at 7:07 p.m. Present at the meeting: Sandra A. McKenney, Thomas R. Gilligan, Selectman, Peter A Viar, Selectman: Kelley Collins, Administrative Assistant.



Miscellaneous Business:


Tom received correspondence in his mailbox from Marcella it was not dated and there was no explanation why he received it. Tom stated that in the future he would like all correspondence to him dated and a note as to what it is in regards to.


Hot Water Heaters:


The Board discussed the hot water heaters at the Police Department. The tank upstairs is not working and they will replace the tank with the one downstairs so they do not have to buy a replacement tank, there are two tanks in the basement. Kyle Juneau will do the work for $600.00 and no labor cost. Peter noted that Mr. Juneau is a licensed plumber. Tom will sign the P.O. when Chief McGonigle gets his license number and a copy of his certificate.


E-mail


Sandy received an email from Patty Gardner in regards to having an art lesson at the Boys and Girls Club. The Board would like more information. Sandy will email Patty back.


Safety Committee


There are safety issues that need to be addressed at Town Hall. One quote was given for the repairs. The Board would like two more quotes. Sandy will also contact Bruce Phillips and see if he is willing to do the work piecemeal as our budget allows.


Health Officer


Valerie Merrill met with the Board to discuss the Health Officer position that is now vacant.

Sandy thanked Valerie for all her help during the flood. Valerie will review material on Health Officer duties and the Selectmen will meet with Valerie again on February 13, 2006.

Welfare Director


Marcella Hinkell met with the Board to discuss work issues. One item brought to the attention of the Board is the use of the Town car. Marcella feels using the Town car to visit clients can be intimidating and would like to use her own vehicle. Peter noted that she can take the magnetic seals off the doors, and would like her to use it when appropriate.

Peter made a motion to go into non-public under RSA 91A: 3,II (a) @ 7:50 p.m. Seconded by Tom. Roll call Tom yes, Peter yes, Sandy yes, Tom made a motion to leave non-public session @ 9:28 p.m. Roll call Tom yes, Peter yes, Sandy yes. Public meeting resumed @ 9:28 p.m.

Volunteer Application


The Board received a volunteer application from a resident that would like to be on the Budget committee. The Board would like Mr. Ortisi to provide a brief statement as to why the candidate feels qualified to serve on the budget committee.


Tree


A tree fell on Library Street and took down a pole and a transformer. The tree was placed on a resident's property and would like the town to remove the tree. A letter will be sent explaining that the trees on private property and providing the address of the property owners. As a courtesy the highway department will remove the trees debris from their yard.


State Representatives


Sandy would like to meet with the four State Representatives after the budget and elections are over.


Web page


Sandy asked about the update of the web page. Mike Viar is updating it as time allows.


C-Tap


Sandy asked if the Board thought about a candidate for the C-Tap committee.

Roof


Sandy asked the status of the roof bids. Kelley stated that the bids would be going out in tomorrow's mail.


Recreation


Sandy read a letter of resignation from Stays's. He is resigning as maintenance person for the Allenstown recreation. Tom stated that Staysis is moving to Chicago to be with other family members.

Tom made a motion to accept Staysi's resignation. Seconded by Peter. Motion passed 3-0.


Minutes


Peter made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of 1-9-06. Seconded by Tom. Motion passed 3-0.







Peter made a motion, seconded by Tom to adjourn the meeting at 11:00 p.m. Motion passed 3-0.
