SELECTMEN'S PUBLIC MEETING 2/9/2004
Sandra A. McKenney, Chairperson of the Allenstown Board of Selectmen, opened the public meeting at 7:00 PM. Present were Chairperson McKenney, Arthur G. Houle, Benjamin E. Fontaine, Jr., Selectmen; David M. Jodoin, Administrative Assistant; Fire Chief Everett Chaput III, and Peter Viar.
On motion of Arthur Houle, seconded by Benjamin Fontaine, to go into non-public session with Everett Chaput, per RSA 91-A III 2 C, regarding a personnel issue. Roll call vote: Sandra McKenney, yes; Benjamin Fontaine, Jr., yes; Arthur G. Houle, yes. Motion passed. Peter Viar left the room. The non-public meeting started at 7:02 PM and ended at 7:16 PM.
The Selectmen resumed the public meeting at 7:16 PM. They met with Everett Chaput III, the Fire Chief, to discuss purchase orders. If there is a purchase to be made and it costs $200 or more, there must be a purchase order signed by the Department Head and the Selectmen before the purchase is made. Mattresses were purchased for the sleeping quarters at the Fire station before they were approved by the Selectmen. The fire Chief is taking responsibility for this and will follow the purchase order procedure from now on.
The Memorandum of understanding for the Boys and Girls Club to operate at the Parks and Recreation Center on Whitten Street is being reviewed by the Town Attorney.
The Selectmen discussed the cover and the dedication of the Town Report.
The Selectmen discussed a zoning issue regarding Robert and Debbie Lee. A letter will be sent to the Lees.
A motion was made by Arthur Houle, seconded by Benjamin Fontaine, to accept the minutes of February 2nd. Motion passed.
David reported that the Welfare Officer informed him that additional Fuel assistance is now available.
Peter Viar left the meeting.
Benjamin Fontaine made a motion, seconded by Arthur Houle, to go into non-public, regarding a personnel issue. Motion passed. Roll call vote: Sandra McKenney, yes; Benjamin Fontaine, yes; and Arthur Houle, yes.
The Non-public meeting started at 8:02 PM and ended at 8:22 PM. Antonia Robbins came in to ask on behalf of the family of Keith Severance if a tree could be planted on the Fire station grounds in memory of Keith. David will ask the Fire Chief if this is feasible. The family will likely have a fundraiser for this purpose.
The Selectmen will attend several meetings that are going on this week and next. There is no Selectmen's meeting on Monday, February 16th, in honor of Presidents' Day. The next Selectmen's meeting will be February 23rd.
Sandra McKenney reported that Linda and Dan Murray and Roland Martel are the only ones who are interested in keeping the ARA going. The members were to review the bi-laws and report back to Sandra for comments. Active members are needed.
On motion of Arthur Houle, seconded by Benjamin Fontaine, the meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.
