SELECTMEN'S MEETING MINUTES 5/3/2004

The Chairman of the Board, Arthur G. Houle, opened the meeting at 6:55 PM. Present at the meeting was Chairman Houle, Sandra A. McKenney, Peter A. Via, Selectmen; and David M. Jodoin, Administrative Assistant.

The Selectmen met with Carol Martel, to discuss the Old Meeting House on Deerfield Road. A meeting was held Saturday at the site and was well attended. The Steering Committee would like to know who the governing body is on making final decisions. There was discussion about a Commission, a Board of Trustees, Carol as the Liaison, Historic versus Heritage. The Selectmen and Carol decided to continue the way it is run now, with the Selectmen having the final word. Carol will inform the group at the next meeting.

Carol informed the Selectmen that the Timber Framers Guild which raises roofs for communities may be coming to Allenstown to work on the Meeting House roof. That would be great for the community. All we need to do is put up the workers for a week and be hospitable.

Other matters discussed included purchasing windows, security system, Architectural design by the end of the year, and trusses.

A motion was made by Sandra McKenney, seconded by Peter Viar, to go into non-public under RSA 91-A:3 II (a). Roll call vote: Arthur Houle, yes; Sandra McKenney, yes; Peter Viar, yes; Motion passed. The Selectmen went into Non-Public at 7:19 PM. The Public meeting resumed at 8:32 PM.

A motion was made by Sandra McKenney, seconded by Peter Viar, to accept the minutes of 4/12, and 4/19. Arthur Houle was excused on 4/12.

Motion passed.

Other matters discussed was the MSDS, Material Safety Data Sheet, which was brought up at the Joint Loss Management meeting on Monday at the Highway Garage when discussion ensued regarding hazardous materials. We should make an effort to keep a list of all businesses we deal with.

The Joint Loss Management committee will meet at Town Hall on June 18th, at 1:00 PM to discuss the safety issues at Town Hall.

The Planning Board is meeting Wednesday and the CIP committee will meet 5/12 at 7 PM.

The Selectmen discussed a purchase order regarding Protective gear for the Fire Department.

Jim Rodger and the Boy Scouts will work on planting flowers at Town Hall.

This will be done before Memorial Day. Monica Nann-Smith has volunteered to work on flowers at Town Hall also.

David reported that Tom Gilligan, Chairman of the Planning Board now has keys to the Planning Board room upstairs as well as the mail box and the building.

A motion was made by Sandra McKenney, seconded by Peter Viar, to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM.
