SELECTMEN'S PUBLIC MEETING 10/7/2002

Chairman Benjamin E. Fontaine, Jr., opened the meeting at 7:01 PM. Present were Chairman Fontaine, Arthur G. Houle, Sandra A. McKenney, Selectmen; David M. Jodoin, Administrative Assistant.

The Selectmen met with Robert Martin, Deputy Fire Chief, to discuss the Fire Department budget and the Civil Defense budget.

On motion of Arthur Houle, seconded by Sandra McKenney, the Civil Defense budget of $3,800 was accepted unanimously.

On motion of Arthur Houle, seconded by Sandra McKenney, the Fire Department budget of $221,779.00 was accepted unanimously.

The Selectmen met with Edward Cyr, Town Clerk and Louise Letendre, Supervisor of the Checklists to go over their proposed budgets.

On motion of Sandra McKenney, seconded by Arthur Houle, the Elections and Registrations budget of $6,621.00 was accepted unanimously.

The Town Clerk's budget was tabled until Chairman Fontaine has an opportunity to discuss the Deputy Town clerk's position with Penny Touchette.

The Selectmen met with Karen Gendreau, Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commission. The budget was discussed and a motion was made by Sandra McKenney, seconded by Arthur Houle, to accept the budget of $24,730.00. Motion passed unanimously.

Sandra McKenny made a motion, seconded by Arthur Houle to let the Parks and Recreation Commission hire a person for 3-4 weeks to do repairs at the park on Whitten Street. Motion passed unanimously. Jim Rodger will oversee the work being done.

The Selectmen met with Karen Gendreau to discuss the Planning Board budget. On motion of Sandra McKenney, seconded by Arthur Houle, the budget of $12,900 was accepted unanimously.

The Selectmen discussed the Animal Control budget. On motion of Sandra McKenney, seconded by Arthur Houle, the budget of $16,000 was accepted unanimously.

The Selectmen discussed the Zoning budget. On motion of Arthur Houle, seconded by Sandra McKenney, the budget of $1,275.00 was accepted unanimously.

The Selectmen discussed other items, including a deed to the Cemetery, pump repairs to the fire trucks, no meeting next Monday because of the Columbus Day holiday, a meeting on the 21st of October to finalize the double-decker bridge plans.

On motion of Arthur Houle, seconded by Sandra McKenney, the minutes of 9/23/02 and 9/30/02 were accepted unanimously by the Board.

On motion of Sandra McKenney, seconded by Arthur Houle, the 2002 MS-1 State form in the amount of $183,241,933.00 was accepted unanimously.

On motion of Arthur Houle, seconded by Sandra McKenney, the meeting adjourned at 9:40 PM.
