SELECTMEN’S PUBLIC MEETING 4/15/2002

Benjamin E. Fontaine, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, opened the meeting at 7:00 PM.

Present were Benjamin E. Fontaine, Jr., Arthur G. Houle, Sandra A. McKenney, Selectmen; David M. Jodoin, Administrative Assistant.

Also present was James Rodger.

The Selectmen met with Police Chief McGonigle who introduced a new Police Officer, Monte Cossette.

The Selectmen signed checks and answered correspondence.

The Selectmen met with Ken Field, regarding the Building Inspector position.

Mr. Field discussed his interest in the position and his knowledge of codes. He will catch up on the latest Boca codes, electrical, zoning, etc.

After a short discussion, the Selectmen agreed to offer the position to Ken Field. On motion of Arthur G. Houle, seconded by Sandra A. McKenney, to appoint Ken Field as Building Inspector for the balance of the term, until 4/1/03, the motion passed unanimously.

Ken Field took the oath to perform the duties of the Building Inspector to the best of his ability.

Certificates of appointment were signed for Jim Rodger for 3 years, Parks and Recreation Commissioner; Donna Meadows,, 1 year term, Welfare Director; Karen Gendreau, Parks and Rec. Commissioner, 1 year term; a letter of resignation for Jim Rodger was accepted for the 1 year term on the Parks and Recreation Commission.

On motion of Sandra A. McKenney, seconded by Arthur G. Houle, to transfer $196.80 from the Public Building Fund to the Town Account, motion passed unanimously.

On motion of Sandra A. McKenney, seconded by Arthur G. Houle, to transfer the balance of the Allenstown Sewer System Construction and Improvement Account to the Town Account, the motion passed unanimously.

On motion of Arthur G. Houle, seconded by Sandra A. McKenney, the bids for the Town paving projects were awarded to Brox Industries, Inc., the motion passed unanimously. The Ferry Street project is $11,155.00, New Rye Road, $45,200, and Granite Street, $67,921.00

The Selectmen discussed the demolition of the old Fire station. The project is incomplete at this time. The slab will stay and the hole will be filled and sloped to the drain at the Rec. Center. The slab will have some holes drilled in to allow moisture to escape.

Jim Rodger discussed the Sewer project. The Bond Bank are not lending due to the fact that we did not get 66 2/3% approval at Town meeting, therefore, the rates will be going up to $3.64 for the year.

On motion of Sandra A. McKenney, seconded by Arthur G. Houle, to transfer $10,500 from the Public Building Fund to the Town Account, the motion passed unanimously.

On motion of Sandra A. McKenney, seconded by Arthur G. Houle, to accept the Selectmen’s public minutes of 4/8/2002, the motion passed unanimously.

David Jodoin and Arthur Houle will attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the ball fields on May 18 at 10:00 AM.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.
