SELECTMEN’S
OFFICE

SCHOOL STREET
ALLENSTOWN,
NEW HAMPSHIRE 03275
SELECTMEN’S PUBLIC MEETING 4/8/2002
The Selectmen’s public meeting was opened
by Benjamin E. Fontaine, Jr. at 7:52 PM. Present were Benjamin E. Fontaine,
Jr., Chairman; Arthur G. Houle and Sandra A. McKenney, Selectmen; David M.
Jodoin, Administrative Assistant. Also present was James Rodger.
Jim Boisvert, Highway Road Agent, met with
the Selectmen to discuss the paving bids which were due today and he discussed
the specs for the new truck.
Al Remillard of the Parks and Recreation
Commission met with the Selectmen to discuss a summer program for the 6th
to 9th grades in Allenstown and Pembroke.
Roy Annis, co-ordinator of the Renaissance
Program at Pembroke Academy was present to offer some help to the communities.
There were two issues of importance; the funding cut from the Town budget and
the possibility of staffing the program. Jennifer Morin and Robin McAfee wanted
to know if the Rec. center would be open this summer and would it be open from
9-3pm? The Renaissance owns a bus and that would be available for trips. In
order for the Renaissance to help out, the summer program must originate from a
school location, not the Rec. center, so the school principal will be contacted
to see if the Armand R. Dupont School can accommodate the program.
After much discussion, Mr. Annis asked what
did the Town need from them?
The Commission will contact the school and
then get back with the Renaissance group to discuss further what will happen
for the summer program.
The Selectmen met with Fire Chief Al Dionne
to discuss several issues; Valerie Silva’s resignation; copy of protective
equipment, stepladder quote of $399.00, problem with rain issues, new members,
purchasing a new copier, payroll sheets, pay increases, and 911 issue regarding
40 River Road.
Jim Rodger discussed the Recreation
Commission. He and Steve Gardner are the two members as Al Remillard resigned
last Saturday. Jim will try to find another member who is interested.
Arthur Lawson, Chairman of the Zoning Board
was present at the meeting and wanted to know if there is a hearing scheduled
tomorrow night and there is no Building Inspector, should the meeting be
postponed. Selectman Fontaine suggested that the Zoning Board re-schedule the
meeting.
The Selectmen appointed Herman Dees to
full-time member of the Zoning Board; Donna Meadows, Tax Collector; and Bernadette
Lafond, Deputy Treasurer. The Health Officer, Donna Meadows’ term expires
12/16/2004.
