ALLENSTOWN,
NEW HAMPSHIRE 03275
SELECTMEN’S PUBLIC MEETING 5/6/2002
Benjamin E. Fontaine, Jr., Chairman of the
Board of Selectmen, opened the meeting at 8:00 PM.
Present were Benjamin E. Fontaine, Jr.,
Arthur G. Houle, Sandra A. McKenney, Selectmen; David M. Jodoin, Administrative
Assistant; and Jim Rodger.
The Selectmen discussed the Allenstown
Pembroke US 3 Bridge Replacement project. There are two plans: Plan A will have
2 bridges and 2 houses will be eliminated; Plan B will have 1 bridge. The
Selectmen unanimously support Plan A. David will draft a letter to be sent to
the Department of Transportation.
David brought up the problem on Granite
Street regarding the Highway Department project and the property belonging to
Irene DeBlois. A survey was done and the lions on Mrs. Deblois’ property are
also on the Town property. Mrs. DeBlois does not want the lions removed. David
suggests that the Selectmen meet with Mrs. DeBlois and Jim Boisvert to discuss
the matter together.
David will arrange for the group to meet
Monday, May 13, at 7:00 PM.
Scott Eaton is the new Animal Control
Officer. Erin Young is the new Part-time night Police Department Secretary.
The Selectmen discussed ATVs, Bear Brook
trails, Chester Turnpike, etc. A Public hearing will be held sometime in June
regarding this matter.
The Selectmen also reviewed having a
Steering committee for the Master Plan; a memo will be sent to the Department
Heads requesting their presence. There was a discussion about a riding
lawnmower bought by the Rec. Dept.
The Safety Committee meeting held Monday
discussed the poor flooring situation at Town Hall.
The Selectmen accepted the resignation of
Rick Gendreau from the Planning Board and Herman Dee’s from the Zoning Board.
The Selectmen approved the appointment of
full-time member of the Planning Board to Karen Gendreau, expiring 4/1/2005.
Chairman Fontaine asked Jim Rodger what had
been done to tell the rate payers why the sewer bills had gone up. Letters or
postcards should have been sent out; or a notice should have appeared in the
newspaper. Are you a member of the Public Utilities Commission? Is it legal to
increase the rates 100%?
Jim Rodger will review the concerns.
On motion of Sandra A. McKenney, seconded
by Arthur G. Houle, the minutes of the Selectmen’s meeting of 4/29/2002 were
approved unanimously.
On motion of Arthur G. Houle, seconded by
Sandra A. McKenney, the meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM.
