Selectmen’s Meeting May 17,
2004
Minutes transcribed by: David Jodoin, Allenstown Administrative Assistant
Joint Meeting with Pembroke
Selectmen.
Present: Arthur G. Houle
Allenstown, Sandra McKenney Allenstown Selectperson, Peter Viar Allenstown
Selectmen, and Pembroke Chairman Brian Tufts, as well as Pembroke Selectmen
Larry Young Sr., William Boudreau, Daniel Crean, and Larry Preston.
Pembroke Chairman Brian
Tufts opened the meeting at 6:34 and discussed that the joint boards were here
to discuss the issues concerning the Sewer Commissions and Tri Town Ambulance.
Discussion ensued about the
ability of the two Sewer Boards to come together with a plan with regards to
plant expansion. Chairman Houle stated that Allenstown was waiting for
information from the Pembroke Commission with regards to their flow rates. It
was determined that a Joint Study Committee would be set up with both Towns to
review the current structure as well as other forms to determine the best
avenue for both communities to take. It was voted unanimously by both
communities to proceed with the study. The Committee will consist of a
Selectmen, a citizen, and a Sewer Commissioner. The first meeting will be
scheduled for June 3rd at the Allenstown Town Hall.
The next item for
discussion was Tri Town Ambulance. The Boards discussed not having a seat on
the Executive Board under Tri-Towns new restructuring. Allenstown Chairman
Houle felt that the Board should have a seat on the Executive Board because the
communities helped to fund the service. It was decided that a letter would be
written to Tri-Town from both communities requesting quarterly reports so that
the Town’s could continue to show their support.
It was decided that the
Boards would try and set up a similar meeting in six (6) months to review
progress.
The Allenstown Board
re-convened their meeting at the Allenstown Town Hall at 7:40 PM.
A motion was made under RSA
91-A: 3 II© by Sandy and seconded by Peter to enter non-public session. Roll
call vote Sandy (Yes), Peter (Yes), Arthur (yes).
The Board re-opened their
Public Meeting at 8:32. Selectperson McKenney stated that she had spoken with
the reporter who did the story on Holiday Acres water problem and requested
that he put a correction in the papers saying that water could be obtained at
the Park Office, not at the Library.
Sandy also discussed that
she had visited the Cemetery, which is located on both the Talbot’s and
Beaucher’s property. Sandy stated that she viewed the cemetery and there was a
large wall of stones that Mrs. Talbot did not want anyone crossing over. Sandy
also discussed this issue with Laura Bonk of the Allenstown Historical Society.
It was also discussed that the Society wanted to remove trees from the
Cemetery. The Selectmen were not in favor of the trees being removed because of
potential danger to the site. A letter will be written.
